What sets your services apart?
My experience as an independent school college counselor for over a decade plus my background as a psychotherapist gives me a unique toolkit with which to support your child.
Truly, I am not your average counselor. My strength lies in my experience working with teenagers and young adults in both academic and therapeutic settings where a meaningful connection drives the work. You will see from my testimonials that students and parents I have worked with remain in touch with me because of the foundational relationship we created together.
What does college counseling include?
College counseling is a natural step in the evolution of mentoring and coaching.
We will trek through the emotional highs and lows of the process as well as the operational tasks which include: list building, essay support, course selection, and application strategy.
What does mentoring include?
Mentoring with me includes weekly, 50 minute sessions over zoom.
These sessions are usually with the student only, although sometimes it makes sense to have some discussions as a family. We will also be in communication via email throughout our work together, sharing documents, asking and answering questions. In general, I’m there to support you as little things come up, even if we don’t have an official session that day.
What is the cost?
College Counseling + Mentoring Packages are available by the hour, monthly, or annually.
I have various packages depending on your needs. In short, I want to make sure this partnership works for you and your family.

How We Work Together:
-
A Values-based Process
The compass we will use to guide our work will be the values and norms we co-create to maintain our shared commitment to a healthy and meaningful process.
-
Initial Call
To begin the process of working together, email me to schedule a 30 minute consultation call to see if we are a good fit. If we decide to work together, we will create a plan that works for your family that includes family and student zoom meetings as well as asynchronous work via google docs.
-
Zoom Meetings + Asynchronous Work
I meet with students, their parents/guardians, and sometimes we meet all together. These meetings inspire thought-provoking questions and reflections to understand what is driving the student and their aspirations.
How To Contact Me:
Due to the highly personalized nature of my work, I cap the number of families I work with per year and have an intake process to make sure we are a good fit.
I invite you to schedule a 30-minute introductory call to learn more about what our work together could look like.
If we decide to work together, the cost of this initial call will be credited towards your first contract.
Please reach out by sending an email to: dotkowalcoaching@gmail.com. I look forward to connecting with you within 24-48 hours.
